Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Fleet Service Supervisor, performs repairs and maintenances of a wide variety of all City vehicles and equipment. Work involves inspecting and diagnosing the condition of equipment and completing repairs.
Essential Job Duties
- Diagnoses, adjusts, repairs and services a variety of city equipment including but not limited to; heavy equipment trucks such as Sanitation/Power vehicles, tractors, bush hogs, front loaders, police and standard passenger vehicles, lawn mowers, chainsaws, blowers, etc.
- Performs repairs to transmissions, brakes, engines and hydraulic systems.
- Performs routine preventative maintenance and service; oil changes, tire rotations, safety equipment checks, greasing and lubricating.
- Operates various types of shop equipment, machinery and specialized tools.
- Performs welding and torching work.
- Performs minor paint and body repair.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Requirements of Position
- High School Diploma or GED; supplemented experience in maintenance and repair of mechanical devices and equipment preferable; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- Must possess a current, valid Georgia Driver's License; CDL license preferred or the ability to obtain within one year of employment.
- ACS certification a plus.
- Must successfully pass criminal background and Motor Vehicle checks.
- Must successfully pass post-offer drug screening.
